In this session, College Guidance Network (CGN) will share actionable guidance on building a smart standardized testing strategy, including how to choose between the SAT and ACT, create a realistic prep and testing timeline, and understand how colleges consider test scores (including what “test optional” really means). They will also address aligning summer with your goals and how to balance test prep and early application work with meaningful summer experiences—jobs, internships, enrichment programs, or other opportunities—that build skills and strengthen your story. The Black Student Success Summit (BSSS) is BEAM Village’s signature annual event bringing together Black middle and high school students, families, educators, and community partners for a day of learning, celebration, and connection. Rooted in culture and powered by community, the Summit creates a space where Black students are seen, supported, and surrounded by people who believe in their brilliance.
